Introducing the Book

The following video was produced for the TV shows Øystein & Meg (Øystein & I) by the Norwegian Broadcasting - brilliant!

New Media Tech Review: Vividas Online Video Delivery

As cool as Youtube, Dailymotion, and similar flash-based video sharing services are, the video quality they provide still leave much to be desired.

Sure, the “postage stamp” sized video of the 90’s have been
enlarged. But where is the full screen, high quality, no download IPTV
technology I have been promised all these years?

I’ll tell you where it is - at Vividas.com .

What is the secret?

(New Media Blogger unravels the hot documentary self-help film “The Secret”.)

It has been featured on Oprah, Larry King, and Ellen. The Secret is
the hottest new craze in self help. It’s also an example of great
marketing.

What is Web 2.0

(See below for a great 4 minute video explaining what Web 2.0 actually is)

The term "Web 2.0" gets thrown around a lot these days, even though few non-geeks seem to understand what the term actually means. Although Wikipedia has a pretty good explanation, most business people are too lazy to actually read it.

That's why I find this 4 minute video so exciting:

Video discovered at vidipedia.org, yet another Web 2.0 example. New Media Musings has a pretty good listing of other Web 2.0 video hosting sites.

Stephen Colbert on Wikipedia

Watch the video of Stephen Colbert's explanation of Wikipedia right here

An on running theme in this blog is how the Internet has warped our concept of authority. Stephen Colbert recently made some hilarious comments about authority and the Internet in his daily "word":

Some classic quotes from the segment:

"Wikipedia - the website where you can be an authority even if you don't know what the hell you are talking about."

"When Wikipedia becomes our most trusted reference source, reality becomes just what the majority agrees upon."

Ah, Comedy Central. What will you come up with next?

The hidden truth of advertising

Advertising has a reputation for being a "fluffy" business. This humerous video, entitled "The Truth In Ad Sales", sums up the issue:

One of the reasons I am attracted to new and interactive media is it
presents opportunities to remove some of this “fluff” by bringing more
accountability to advertising campaigns.

Nintendo Zelda Commercial

Today has been very busy, and I haven't had time to write an insightful post. That being said, look what I stumbled upon! A 1980's commercial for the original Zelda:

[kml_flashembed movie="http://www.youtube.com/v/-ApypJw-JAI" width="425" height="350" wmode="transparent" /]

Zelda was the first video game I ever became obsessed with, so much so that I once didn't notice an earthquake while playing (no joke). On a side note, notice this commercial was from a time period when rap was considered juvenile rather than urban.

Anyways, from now on I will only post when there is something interesting to say - quality over quantity is a mantra of this blog.
